Did you know that the four "petals" around the outside edge of a dogwood are not part of the flower? The real flowers are right in the center of the 4 bracts. The 4 bracts are just modified leaves! The tiny greenish-yellow flowers in the center make up the flowering head. Such a unique little thing, isn't it? These North American native trees are some of the first to bloom in the spring that we see. Real leaves were used to leave the patterns behind for each flower. The veins within each bract was once a part of the veins of a real live plant!
The little one of a kind and hand carved beetle is trying to hide among the dogwood cluster. I carved him entirely from the silver itself and gave him sweet details to mimic their real cousins. He blends right into his surroundings. How fun will it be when someone admires your necklace and then spies your little beetle friend?
This necklace was made specifically for this pendant. A few little delicately twisted links among the circles. Hand pieced and soldered together making it about 22 inches long.
One of a kind already completed pieces such as this beetle and dogwood necklace will be packaged up and mailed off to you within 3-5 business days.
